Arkee Studios represents Arkee Chaney, a formerly incarcerated man who spent 34 consecutive years in prison. Arkee now spends his time pursuing his lifelong dream of making a living as an artist - and having his own art studio.

From its inception, Arkee has been the cartoonist for Stateville Speaks, a newspaper produced by and for individuals incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections. To the left is the cartoon Arkee created for the current edition of Stateville Speaks.

Arkee's art and life have been featured at many events and museums, even during his incarceration.  This is a video of him speaking at an event in October of 2020 about the impact that art had on his life while he was in prison.
